P. J. Daniels on Endred

P. J. Daniels is a Canadian self-published author, from the Ottawa Valley (in Ontario, for non-Canadians). He made his first appearance as an author back in 2018 with the debut of Queen of Black Sails. 

As of the writing of this article, he has a total of five books available for purchase, with more on the way. Today we will be discussing his latest creation: Endred - Lesson One:Magic. As its listing on Amazon suggests, it is the first in a series--a series we should be keeping our eyes out for.

Endred is book one, and starts with a rather graphic sex scene that might turn some off, as it is not consensual. However, this scene is an important story element that not only introduces the character, but opens up other story lines later on.

As this is a high fantasy novel, it takes place in a world where humans are sparse, and otherworldly. They have been given the nickname 'Demons' and are treated like either dangerous animals or slaves.

The main character, Darren, is a human, who fell through a portal and was captured by orc who stormed the room (followed shortly by the rape scene). The first few chapters helpfully explain how the magic in this world work while the main character, Darren, figures out how to use it.

He quickly makes some allies, and plans an escape. You'll have to find out what happens next when you read it, but keep in mind, it is rather fast paced in most parts. Lots of twists and turns keep it interesting as well.

Endred As Seen By P. J. Daniels

When P. J. Daniels set out to write Endred, it was his first attempt at writing what some might call a 'LitRPG.' He enjoys reading fantasy and watching anime where the main character gets pulled into another world, so he wanted to create his own world in the same style.

Despite Endred having been released after Over Powered, he actually wrote it first. He wanted to publish it traditionally, so he waited and went looking for a literary agent to represent him. In the meantime, he wrote Over Powered and released it on Amazon, with high hopes.

Seeing the success of Over Powered, he decided to look over Endred one last time, then put out to the world, as it is now.
